Kerala-Tecom ties in trouble: CM

Thiruvananthapuram: The ties between Kerala government and Tecom, promoters of the Smart City project in Kochi, are in trouble, Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said Tuesday. This has forced the government to look for other options for successful completion of the much delayed project, he informed the state assembly. A decision in this regard will be taken after Tecom replies to the letter send by the government, the CM said. He said that the government can not agree to Tecom’s demand for right to sell the 12 per cent free holding land earmarked for the project. The government wants to go ahead with the project and has never tried to sever ties with Tecom, the CM said. He was replying to an emergency resolution forwarded by the opposition parties blaming government for the project fiasco.
