BSP MLA gets life term for killing dalit girl

FAIZABAD: A local court on Tuesday sentenced former minister and BSP MLA Anand Sen and two of his aides to life imprisonment for kidnapping and killing a dalit girl in 2007. Anand was allegedly having an affair with the 24-year-old law student. The legislator from Milkipur is the second BSP MLA to get a life sentence. On May 6, a court in Auraiya awarded life to Shekhar Tiwari for killing PWD engineer Manoj Gupta, who had resisted a BSP extortion attempt. Amarmani Tripathi, who switched from BSP to SP, is also serving a life term for murdering poet Madhumita over a relationship that that broke down. Shashi went missing from her college in Faizabad in October 2007. Her father Yogender Prasad alleged that then minister of food processing Anand Sen had kidnapped his daughter. It was alleged that the minister was having an affair with the girl and she was putting pressure on him to marry her. Prasad had filed an FIR against Anand, his driver Vijay and Anand's friend Seema Azad. The special SC/ST court held all three accused guilty of murder and atrocities against a dalit.
