Help desks at Secretariat

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan inaugurated help desks at the Secretariat here on Thursday. The help desks are functioning near the South Block, Cantonment Gate and the Secretariat Annexe. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the help desks would serve people coming to the Secretariat for various purposes and minimise inconveniences. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Law M. Viayakumar, Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph, V. Surendran Pillai, MLA, and Chief Secretary Neela Gangadharan attended. They also went round and observed the working of the system. The help desks will receive petitions addressed to officials in the Secretariat and issue passes to those wishing to visit Ministers and officials. Round-the-clock The desks, opening at 9.30 a.m., will provide services from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. without a break. Visiting time at the Secretariat will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Petitions from the public will be scanned and transmitted to the departments concerned using the Secretariat Information system. A reference number will be issued to the petitioner which can be used later to track the status of the file, a release said.
