KSTP to revamp five road junctions

Thiruvananthapuram: Five main junctions, one each in districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kozhikode will be scientifically redesigned under a KSTP project. The Plamood junction in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram will be revamped in the first phase. Rs 60 crores has been allocated for the project which will go a long way in enhancing the road safety. Unscientific road junctions in other district will be redesigned in consultation with respective district collectors. In Ernakulam district authorities have zeroed in on Kaloor junction. The newly designed road junctions will have Round Abouts and traffic signals, PWD principal secretary Tom Jose said. Unauthorised parking, bill boards and haphazard road crossing by pedestrians will be banned in these model road junctions.
