Trains to be diverted or regulated due to bridge work

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Several trains via Kottayam between Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram would be diverted and regulated from September 22 and October 13 due to an urgent engineering work to be under taken at Meenachil River Bridge, Souther Railway Divisional Railway Manager Rajeev Dutta Sharma said on Monday. A mega line block would be necessary in view of the work to be undertaken in connection with the regirdering of the bridge near Kottayam, Sharma told reporters here. Trains to be diverted via Alappuzha included Kanniyakumari- Mumbai,Kochuveli-Lokmanyathilak Garibrath express, KochuVeli- Hyderabad during these days, Sharma said. Thiruvananthpuram- New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai train would be regulated between Kayamkulam and Ernakulam, Hydeabad- Thiruvananthapuram Express and Dehradun- Kochuveli Express were some of the trains to be regulated during these days. Sharma said no changes have been made to inter-city express trains between Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvananthapuram-Shornour. Maximum effort would be taken to minimize the hardships for passengers, he said. Railway has also made a tie-up with Kerala State Road Transport Corporation to transport passengers from variuos stations between Kayamkulam and Kottayam, he added.
