Suzuki offering me cash to quit: Union leader

MANESAR: In a startling revelation just days after some suspended union leaders quit Maruti Suzuki following huge payouts, the top labour leader at Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd ( SPIL) -- the carmakers engine manufacturing subsidiary -- has alleged that he has been offered huge inducements by the Japanese management to leave the company. The company, however, denied any such move. Subey Singh, the president of SPILs labour workforce, said the management has been pressurising him to accept a payout many times higher than that offered to Marutis labour leaders and make an exit. I have been offered money. They have been asking me what is it that I want (to resign). However, I have refused to accept any payout. I will not become a traitor to the labour workforce that has elected me their leader, the 26-year-old Singh told TOI.
