Nasser and Sourav relive old times

LONDON: For once, Sourav Ganguly didnt keep Nasser Hussain waiting; for once, Nasser didnt give an earful to Sourav. On Thursday morning, it was a new start for the arch rivals as they became a part of the same team. Unlike the days when they were high-strung and overtly proud captains, they were pleasant and nice to one another. They shook hands warmly and exchanged pleasantries, said a source, who was privy to the interesting match-up. They were very cordial and there was no tension at all. Clearly, whoever thought of pitting them together behind the microphones was hoping for some fireworks. But as it usually happens, those kinds of extreme emotions come to the surface only when you are in front of the wicket, or in the middle of an intense game. They might not have liked each others guts during their playing days. But it was more than apparent that they have respect, even admiration, for the other, the source said. TOI learnt that they chatted a bit before they went on air, which probably put them at ease. It feels like 2002 for me all over again, Nasser is believed to have told viewers, once they warmed up to each other. I saw the way all your boys ran towards you yesterday, he said. Sourav merely smiled, refusing to take the bait. On Wednesday, when Sourav arrived for his new stint, he made it a point to go to the Indian teams training session. Within seconds, screams of Dadi, Dadi reverberated and he was surrounded by some of the players. The MCC stewards didnt take to it kindly, though.
