Congress to celebrate 125th anniversary

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress party will launch its year-long celebration on Monday to mark the party’s 125th anniversary. Various programmes will be held during this period. Veteran Congress leader K. Karunakaran will inaugurate the special anniversary conference on Monday, while Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala will launch the year-long festival, according to the District Congress Committee (DCC) which is organising the event. Noted Gandhian P. Gopinathan Nair, who is also the chairman of the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, will be honoured on the occasion along with other prominent Gandhians. The party will also present mementos to the former KPCC presidents A.K. Antony, Vayalar Ravi, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai and P.P. Thankachan. ‘Sneha Sadas’ In other districts, the centenary celebrations are being organised at the block level as “Sneha Sadas” spread over 250 block committees.
