'Centre should take action against violators of lottery act'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala finance minister T M Thomas Isaac said it was upto the central government should take action against the violators of lottery rules enacted by the Centre. Inaugurating the state-level mobile lottery exhibition to promote Kerala State lotteries here, he said the controversy over other-state lotteries in the state had not provided any solution to the problems in the lottery sector. The state cabinet would consider reinstating seven-days-a week draw of the state lotteries soon if the government's appeal in this regard before the Supreme Court got a favourable verdict, he said. The lottery exhibition would travel in the state in various districts till December 10, he said. V Sivankutty MLA, city mayor K Chandirka, district panchayat president Ramani P Nair and Lottery Welfare Board chairman M V Jayaran also spoke.
