Rahul Gandhis padyatra may run into rough weather

LUCKNOW: Rahul Gandhis padyatra (journey on foot) scheduled to arrive in Aligarh could run into rough weather after the district administration decided to impose a prohibitory order under section 144 of the CrPC in the town. Though no one is willing to be quoted officially, sources do not rule out the second arrest of the Gandhi scion whose pro-active role in the western UP belt now poses a potential threat to the Mayawati government. Rahul had halted at Rampurbangar for the night after having covered nearly 25 km on foot and left the hamlet in wee hours. Although the senior congress leaders here, have no clue about his whereabouts but according to the local sources in Aligarh he should be reaching Tappal by mid-afternoon where he is slated to address a meeting of farmers. The small village had seen a farmers unrest last year and Rahul had taken a delegation of local farmers to Delhi and arranged a meeting with Prime Minister Manmoham Singh. Already on its toes, the district administration has swung into action and has deployed force with an additional district magistrate Shatrughan Singh. When quizzed by the media persons Singh remained non committal about his mission. Congress party however hopes that the administration would avoid a direct confrontation this time.
